  29.  worldwide availability of NEXTSTEP Release 3.1 for Intel processors
  30.  and NEXTSTEP Developer.

  32.  NEXTSTEP Release 3.1 for Intel processors is NeXT's object-oriented
  33.  software that runs on industry-standard Inteli 486- and
  34.  Pentium-based PCs.  NEXTSTEP Developer provides visual application
  35.  construction tools and reusable application objects for the
  36.  development of NEXTSTEP applications.  NEXTSTEP has received
  37.  customer and industry accolades for speeding the development of
  38.  custom applications.

  40.  NeXT users can purchase PCs with NEXTSTEP preinstalled from a
  41.  number of leading PC manufacturers, value-added resellers, system
  42.  integrators and resellers.  Users may also purchase shrink-wrapped
  43.  copies of NEXTSTEP through value-added resellers, system
  44.  integrators, software resellers and directly from NeXT.

  100.  Using NEXTSTEP's visual application construction tools, developers
  101.  can rapidly assemble reusable software objects into complete
  102.  applications.  NEXTSTEP's object-oriented framework and reusable
  103.  object kits, "ObjectWare," helps developers create client/server
  104.  applications more quickly and easily, and allows them to integrate
  105.  them more tightly than with traditional tools.

  108.  category of third party software developers - developers who build
  109.  reusable objects for sale to corporate developers.  Today, NeXT's
  110.  ObjectWare catalog features 1412 objects developed by third

  114.  distributed object messaging architecture that allows objects
  115.  residing on one computer to transparently send messages to objects
  116.  residing on another computer.  Using distributed objects,
  117.  developers can assemble client/server applications using NEXTSTEP's
  118.  visual application construction tools to connect the objects,
  119.  avoiding the complexity of implementing client/server with
  120.  traditional approaches.

  122.  With NEXTSTEP's Database Kit, included as part of NEXTSTEP,
  123.  customers have transparent client access to enterprise data
  124.  residing on servers and mainframes.  Database access adaptors for
  125.  ORACLE and Sybase are bundled with NEXTSTEP.  Adaptors for other
  126.  popular databases, including DB/2, IMS, Ingres, GUPTA and Informix
  127.  also are available.  NEXTSTEP's distributed objects and Database
  128.  Kit round out its strong advantage as the client/server application
  129.  development environment of choice for today's corporate computing

  135.  compatibility with Microsoft DOS/Windows environments, including

  159.  worldwide.  It comes bundled with the user interface in six
  160.  languages and retails in the U.S. for $795.  It includes the
  161.  NEXTSTEP graphical user interface,  NeXTmail electronic mail, a
  162.  suite of productivity applications and bundled database and network
  163.  connectivity.

  166.  needed to develop NEXTSTEP applications and is also available
  167.  immediately.   It retails in the U.S. for $1,995 and requires
  168.  NEXTSTEP Release 3.1 for Intel processors.  Pricing for each
  169.  version varies in other countries, as well as for higher education
  170.  and registered developers.
